Welcome to Colombia! You will be met on arrival in Bogota and driven to your hotel. Enjoy an afternoon city tour to visit the Bogotá’s historic centre and both the Gold and the Botero Museums.
Day at leisure to explore Bogota at your own pace. Optional activities and excursions available include a salsa lesson, a cycling tour, a cable car trip to Monserrate mountain for fine views of the city or a gastronomic flavour of Colombia.
Travel north to Zipaquira, through countryside once occupied by the native Muisca Indians. Visit the Salt Cathedral in the mine here before continuing on to the attractive colonial town of Villa de Leyva which has the largest main square in South America (2nd in the whole of Latin America to the Zocalo in Mexico City).
Fly from Bogota across to Colombia’s Coffee Region for an insight into how coffee is grown & harvested, plus so much more than just coffee… hike in the lush Cocora Valley, wander the colonial towns of Filandia & Salento, relax in the Santa Rosa hot springs and go bamboo rafting, zip-lining or horse-back riding.
Fly to Leticia, the gateway to Colombia’s Amazon. Short road transfer to the start-point of your Amazon adventure. Hike through the jungle for 40 mins to the Tanimboca Nature Reserve where you’ll spend the night in huts built in the branches of trees.
Take a fast boat to Puerto Narino where you’ll have a walking tour to see how the locals live in this town where all motorised vehicles are banned. Onwards to Lake Tarapoto where you can see Pink Amazon river dolphins and fish for piranha. Return to Leticia at the end of the day.
Fly to Cartagena, via Bogota to spend the remainder of your holiday in this most attractive of colonial cities. Alternatively, fly to Santa Marta and transfer to the Tayrona National Park.
Morning at leisure in Cartagena before your afternoon flight back to Bogota, where you will connect to your flight back to the UK or further afield. Farewell Colombia!
